An Elegant Backless Wedding Dress

Allow me to introduce you to Ida, a designer, and Howard, an air traffic controller.

They married inside a humanist ceremony on 18 August 2018 at Troon, Ayrshire, a country house estate that provided the most wonderful backdrop for his or her celebrations where a riot of flowers played a starring role.

Ida's Norwegian roots and love of flowers inspired her selection of gowns. I adore its mixture of bridal elegance with couture; just consider the daring low dip back and people's delicate lace straps in addition to the romantic, soft skirt in blush pink.

"I loved outdoors back also it was so light. It was built with a 'Norwegian' lace pattern with pearls. It was so beautiful."

Ida gave her bridesmaids free rein to select their blue bridesmaid dresses. The deep blue lace provides a lovely contrast to Ida's dainty pink.

Whilst Ida and her bridesmaid prepared, Howard was busy dressing inside a blue suit, teamed having a shirt, cufflinks and tie clip, and shoes. I love a contemporary blue suit for any summer wedding.

"We rented the estate's Manor House which had ten bedrooms for the close friends and family to stay. The ceremony, wedding breakfast, and party were all held inside a marquee inside the estate's walled garden."

Ida and Howard originally met in 2008 once they worked together in Sydney, Australia.

"We traveled throughout Australia and South East Asia before I returned the place to find Norway to review the graphic design and Howie returned towards the UK and started his learning Bournemouth being an air traffic controller. Howie was posted to Scotland and I moved to Glasgow in 2012 after four years of long-distance." Here

"We subsequently purchased a bungalow in Troon, then a horse along with a miniature schnauzer. Howie proposed in May 2017 after an amazing weekend as we had been away in Edinburgh where I have been Eventing on my small horse at Dalkeith Palace. We got married 16 months later."

"We didn't make our very own vows but had written on the story of how we met that the celebrant read out at the beginning of the ceremony. It was very personal, emotional, and funny. My excellent friend and her husband sang 'Make You Feel My Love' by Adele, half in English and half in Norwegian. That made all of our guests tear up – it had been stunning."

"We put down tiny jars of glitter for each guest, not explaining what it had been for. Between the main course and dessert, employees came out with glue and styling brushes and explained that it had been for face decorations. At the end of the night, I think I was all covered in glitter and jewels, and everyone got involved."

The party got on a fantastic start, using the guests needing no encouragement to obtain up and dance. The first dance ended up being to George Ezra's 'My Girl'.

"I heard it on Spotify during my car around the way home in the yard one evening. When I got home I played it to Howie and we both agreed that it had been going to become our song."

Words of Wedded Wisdom

"Don't wait with anything if you're able to do it today particularly when it comes to booking the venue, photographer, and entertainment."

"Be bold and brave. You don't need to do anything – or follow any rules. Make your traditions."

"Spend your hard-earned money on what's vital that you and make savings, or eliminate things you don't believe are as important or necessary. For me, a great photographer was vital in addition to good entertainment."
