There are two general types of positive displacement pump sets:
Reciprocating - using piston, plunger or diaphragm.
Rotation - using screws, gears, vanes or vanes.
All high pressure wash pumps are in a reciprocating group and use a piston or plunger to add energy to the water. There are two main differences between piston and plunger pumps.
The cylinder seal of a piston pump is attached to the piston, so it moves with the piston on each stroke. The cylinder seal of a plunger pump is at a fixed point where the piston moves on each stroke.
The piston pump is driven by a drive shaft connected to a swashplate or swashplate. The piston pump is driven by the crankshaft.
