The bed elevator adopts a series of advanced technologies to meet the special requirements of hospitals. While providing safer transportation conditions for patients, it greatly facilitates the work of medical staff and assists them in fulfilling the sacred mission of saving the dead and healing the wounded. The safety of elevators is a comprehensive problem, and many aspects of elevator design, management, maintenance and use will affect the safety of elevators.

However, a qualified elevator designer should choose a reasonable component configuration from the beginning of the elevator design to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the elevator and prevent potential safety hazards. The conventional means are as follows.

(1) The speed limiter and safety gear are used to protect the downward overspeed; the buffer is used to protect the top and bottom.

(2) The use of variable frequency variable voltage speed regulating door machine makes the elevator door switch more stable, lighter and safer, and provides more protection for patients and medical staff.

(3) The light curtain is used as door protection to avoid the impact of the elevator car door on passengers, luggage, carts, etc.

(4) According to regulations: the traction drive elevator shall be equipped with a car upward overspeed protection device. This can be achieved in the following ways:

① Two-way safety gear installed on the car;

②Safety gear installed on the counterweight frame;

③ Acting on the stopping or deceleration device of the wire rope system (suspension rope or compensation rope), such as rope clamp; ④ Acting on the traction sheave or the component closest to the traction sheave and coaxial with the traction sheave.

The use of the rope clamp does not need to change the original elevator structural system, and is a more direct and effective method. Therefore, rope clamps are often used in the development and design of hospital bed elevators, which are installed in the traction frame between the traction sheave and the guide wheel.
