Everything you need to start a sublimation printing business

This is an exciting age of life! Starting a personalized business has never been easier. In fact, dye sublimation heat transfer paper manufacturers have enabled many creators, manufacturers, and entrepreneurs like you to build profitable businesses that produce and sell high-quality customized products. With just a few pieces of equipment and a little elbow grease, you can instantly build and run your own personalized store.

#1-Sublimation Printer Package
The first (and most important) piece of equipment you need is a sublimation printer. For most people who are just getting started, we recommend Sawgrass SG500 and SG1000 sublimation printers. The Sawgrass system is the most intuitive and user-friendly printer for beginners, and you can get it up and running right away. Both SG500 and SG1000 are powerful, versatile and affordable printers that allow you to customize various products, such as mugs, coasters, plaques, T-shirts, mouse pads, and more.

The main difference between SG500 and SG1000 is the maximum paper size you can print. SG500 can print up to 8.5" x 14", which is very suitable for small items. In contrast, the SG1000 can print standard sizes up to 11” x 17” or optional bypass trays up to 13” x 19”. SG1000 enables you to produce more product choices such as pillows, signs and doormats. If you are a more advanced user or want to print larger items, another dye sublimation printer option is Epson F570. F570 is the largest desktop dye sublimation printer on the market and can print paper rolls up to 24 inches.

#2 – Hot press or cup press
The second major equipment to invest in is a heat press (or a cup press if your personalization focus is on beverages). Although household irons may be suitable for some China sublimation paper roll, heat presses are necessary to obtain high-quality, vivid, and consistent print results.

Now, there are many heat presses to choose from, each with different functions, and you will soon be overwhelmed by these options. But don't panic! The main consideration for beginners is the size of the platen (that is, the size of the surface on which the product is placed). Larger printing presses allow you to customize larger products.

As a beginner, especially if you choose the Sawgrass SG500 printer, you will find that the Coastal 9” x 12” Craft heat press allows you to produce most of the things you want to create. If you want to use Sawgrass SG1000 or Epson F570 to create larger products, we recommend using a larger printing press, such as Geo Knight DK20S.

If your focus is on beverage utensils, such as ceramic coffee cups or water bottles, you will need to invest in a mug press or mug oven. Our 4-in-1 multi-purpose cup press is perfect for getting started because it can squeeze a variety of cups, bottles and other beverages of various sizes. As the output increases, you may eventually consider using a cup oven, which is more expensive, but allows you to press multiple cups at once.
