Like PTFE Gaskets, graphite is very inert. Even at high temperatures, it can resist most corrosive chemicals and will not pollute them.
Graphite can be purchased as a gasket or seal. It is also used as a coating for certain metal gaskets (such as Kammprofile gaskets), which provides excellent sealing performance as well as temperature and chemical resistance.
