Kammprofile gasket definition
The KammProfile washer is magnetically produced by coating a non-metallic material (such as graphite, PTFE-polytetrafluoroethylene, ceramic fiber, non-cotton, mica, etc.) or a sealed layer of metal materials such as aluminum or silver. The core has a concentric groove of 1 mm cam pitch. Such sealing products are also known as "trench metal gaskets" or "corrugated metal gaskets" for high pressure and high-temperature oil applications.
Kammprofile gaskets are used in many industrial, petrochemical, power generation and nuclear energy facilities (for sealing flanges, heat exchanger, superheaters, and other pressure devices), and for the process of high bolt loads, Flange Insulation Gasket Kit is more desirable than spiral wrap mat and significant flange connection resistance.
The Kammprofile washer is suitable for smooth flange surface finish (3.2 to 6.3 μmra, i.e., 125-250 RMS).
The common thickness of the Kammprofile gasket is between 2-4 mm (3 mm is the most common specification in petrochemical applications).
The Kammprofile gasket has a wide sealing area and structure, so there are many advantages:
It may have to withstand temperatures up to about 200 ° C. 1000 ° C (Kammprofile temperature rated depends on the material of the metalcore and sealing layer)
It may reach 250 bar, this is a considerable pressure level
Due to the protection provided by the sealing layer, the washer does not damage the flange surface.
The gasket can absorb the fluctuation of temperature and pressure
It is more impractical than spiral-wrapped spacers to withstand the torque
Suitable for lightweight and heavy flanges, even large sizes
After assembly, the thickness of the sealing material is extremely low (0.1 - 0.2 mm), thereby reducing leakage and failure rate.
The core of Kammprofile Gaskets Suppliers can be reused after cleaning and using new hierarchical materials. This is essential for expensive applications, such as heat exchanger spacers made of special, expensive materials (Inconel, Monel, Hastelloy, and Cupronickel).
An external metal (overall or floating) ring can be added to the gasket to place the gasket when the washer is mounted on the flange. The sealing layer protects the flange surface and enhances sealing
