Stainless Steel Submersible Sewage Pumps are more susceptible to damage than jet pumps. The pump is cooled and lubricated by the water flowing through it. When the water level drops below the intake filter of the pump, the impeller of the Stainless Steel Submersible Sewage Pump will quickly begin to melt and fuse together. Running even once without water may cause the pump to lock up or severely reduce the performance of the pump. Jet pumps can run for a long time without damage, but they can also overheat. Impeller, diffuser, shaft seal, or motor may be damaged. Since this damage is not caused by the failure of the pump, it is not covered by the manufacturer's warranty.
A low cut-off pressure switch will prevent damage in most cases, but it is not foolproof. A better solution is to install electric pump protection controls. When the water pressure drops below 20psi, the pressure switch will turn off the pump. When the well becomes "dry", as the load on the pump drops, the pump protector control device will sense a drop in current.
The low water pressure switch is suitable as insurance for oil wells that usually do not cause water level problems. We strongly recommend using pump protectors for low-yield wells. If the pressure switch is dropped, you must wait a few minutes or longer to restore the water level, and then move the lever on the side of the switch upwards until the pressure increases above 20 psi. Pump control is not only more reliable, but also more convenient. The control has an adjustable timer, which can be set from two minutes to an hour or longer. After the preset time, the control system will automatically restart the pump. Will definitely jump out of the shower, then get wet and reach out to the basement, raising the arm on the pressure switch!
